CBD 101

CBD stands for cannabidiol. Although found in many other plants, CBD occurs in higher concentrations in the Cannabis Sativa L. (hemp) plant. CBD is just one of the over 113 cannabinoids found in hemp and is known for its therapeutic and healing properties, but without the THC mind-altering effects or “high” for the person using it.

Your endocannabinoid system (ECS) helps regulate things like your appetite, stress levels, energy, sleep, and even more processes central to your well-being. This is why millions of people go the route of taking hemp-derived CBD to safely supplement their daily wellness routine. Our bodies continually make their own cannabinoids that are released when we perform any positive wellness-related activity. Long runs, nature walks, meditation, even singing to your favorite song while driving. And when life doesn’t allow you the freedom to take part in these “feel-good” activities, that’s what CBD is there for - to help support your ECS and keep you on schedule with your daily wellness routine.

We take your wellness seriously and want to help you make the best informed decision for your specific need. Here are a few things you should be looking for before purchasing any CBD product.

We all have the same question…”How much CBD Oil should I take?”

Long story short, start low and go slow. Each individual’s experience can be influenced by several factors like age, diet, weight, physical activity, and the body’s ability to absorb its components.

Though there is no definite dosing scale, we recommend starting with this scale below and altering it as needed.

Low Strength- 1mg per 10 lbs.

Medium Strength- 3mg per 10 lbs.

High Strength- 6mg per 10 lbs.

Amidst nutrition facts, ingredients lists, and certifications on product packages, “organic” might appear as one more piece of information to decipher. Understanding what USDA organic really means, is important to make informed choices and ensure you are getting the highest quality products without unnecessary or unhealthy additives.

USDA certified organic crops are grown and processed according to federal guidelines addressing, among many factors, soil quality, pest and weed control, and use of additives. Organic producers rely on natural substances and physical, mechanical, or biologically based farming methods to the fullest extent possible.

To be certified USDA organic, crops must have grown on soil that had no prohibited substances applied for three years prior to harvest. Prohibited substances include most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

Ambassador products are grown outdoors, under natural conditions, on organic as well as certified USDA organic hemp farms in Colombia and Jamaica. We’ve taken the extra step to partner with farmers and processors dedicated to organic practices from seed to final extraction, and bottling in facilities under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Valor Craft products are produced from the entire hemp plant (including the flower) and are all full-spectrum products. Full-spectrum essentially means that the product contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids that exist within the hemp plant, as nature intended. But that’s not all. Full-spectrum products also contain components like terpenes.

But what about THC? While full-spectrum products do contain trace amounts of THC, the total amount is not enough to induce any psychoactive effects. Valor full-spectrum hemp-derived CBD products are laboratory tested twice to ensure they contain no more than 0.3% THC.

There are benefits to the product containing all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the hemp plant because it means the product will produce something that is referred to as an “entourage effect.” The entourage effect refers to the general effectiveness of the product due to the synergistic nature in which the cannabinoids and terpenes interact with one another.

CO2 is currently the cleanest, most precise and environmentally-friendly extraction method. By using CO2 extraction, Valor Craft massively reduces the potential for contamination of its products. Here’s how CO2 oil extraction works across our product lines:

  • Rionegro: CO2 extraction works at a lower temperature and is known to preserve CBD and terpenes (or flavors) of the plant. CO2 extraction is also great for the environment! CO2 is a natural gas that can be recovered and recycled reducing waste. Moreover, if CO2 does escape during extraction, it is not harmful to the environment. The extract that is left behind is pure and solvent free, so there is no risk to users.

  • Medellin: A distillation process is used to selectively concentrate the desirable compounds while removing impurities from the product. In turn, this produces a clear liquid with mild aroma and flavor. The distillate is mixed with organic MCT oil to ensure that the total THC content is under 0.3% to comply with federal and regulatory THC limits.

Some 30ml tincture bottles have as little as 25mg of CBD.

It’s important to look at mg/ml value as well as how much total CBD is in the product. Our products are value priced when you look at the cost for the total amount of active ingredients in each bottle. In a 30mL bottle, we offer our 33mg/mL concentration, which has 990 mg of CBD and our 50mg/mL concentration, which has 1500mg of CBD.

At Valor Craft we go to great lengths to ensure our farmers and processors use the best practices and maintain the highest standards possible. All of our products are tested twice: once at the origin and once when it arrives in the U.S. An independent, third-party testing laboratory confirms that the product is free from pesticides, heavy metals, microbials, residual solvents, or other contaminants. The lab results will also indicate which cannabinoids were detected, and how much of each of those cannabinoids was present in the lab sample. Finally, to promote complete transparency we make all testing results available to our consumers via QR code on each product. You can find the results for your product here.

A lot of hemp derived products are made with MCT oil because they are known to be a dynamic-duo. This oil is made from a type of fat called medium-chain triglycerides. This carrier oil allows you to absorb CBD more easily, because CBD is a fat-soluble compound and is best absorbed when taken with saturated fats, like MCT oil. It also preserves cannabinoids and terpenes longer. Our carrier oil (MCT oil) is USDA organic.
