Does CBD Help with Sleep?

We all know and love the word sleep. It is essential for our physical and mental functioning each day. It has the power to fight off diseases and develop immunity, boost metabolism, and can benefit every function of our bodies. Most adults require an average of 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night, but most would say they don’t get this amount. “Busy” gets in the way with daily household chores, kids to chase around, 9 to 5 jobs, and who knows what else. Before you know it, it’s midnight and you are laying in bed struggling to fall asleep. We’ve all been there and honestly it is extremely irritating. Wouldn’t it be a dream come true if there was something that allowed you to have a consistent sleep schedule and allow you to fall asleep at an appropriate time every night? Don’t worry, we know the secret, and we are willing to share it!

It’s safe. It’s natural. It’s CBD!

CBD has become a safe haven for a variety of persistent issues or discomforts and has provided great results. One of those common issues is insomnia or an inconsistent sleep schedule. It is known that the endocannabinoid system plays a huge role in regulating certain functions such as appetite, mood, sleep, and our internal clock. Not to mention each of those functions play a part in how all the other functions work, too. So, when your appetite is off, it affects your sleep and mood. When our sleep is off, it affects our mood and appetite. When your mood is off, it affects your appetite and sleep. No matter which way you go, one affects the rest. This is why it is so important to take care of yourself in every aspect and seek balance. We know it’s easy to fall into unhealthy habits, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and most of the time it’s difficult to naturally bring those functions back into a healthy routine. When it becomes too difficult, it causes us to seek a more pharmaceutical solution to bring those functions back into a properly functioning routine, often with a boat load of negative side effects.

This is why we love CBD products, because they are a powerful NATURAL way to guide all body functions and systems back to health. Our endocannabinoid system has two main receptors known as CB1 and CB2. When we consume cannabinoids, they attach to these receptors and can have a variety of positive effects based on the amount, time of day, and quality of CBD product you are using. Aside from stimulating your ECS system, CBD may also decrease a variety of other daily discomforts such as anxiety, pain, and stress, which can all work together to be the culprit for a restless night. By finding the right CBD you can greatly improve your sleep quality and length.

We want to be clear here, taking CBD won't magically resolve your comprehensive health. But, CBD naturally supports your holistic wellbeing and serves as a great tool in your collective wellness journey.

WHOOP is a leading company in the wearable space that tracks sleep (and much more) using sleek bands that fit around your wrist to wear anytime and anywhere. They conducted research using anonymized data from WHOOP members who log using CBD on a regular basis (10 or more journal entries over the past 90 days).

The research and results they found are as followed:

The changes are minor, but the data shows WHOOP members have better sleep efficiency and sleep consistency when they report using CBD. Additionally, their average sleep performance (the percentage of sleep they get compared to their sleep need) increases from 82% to 84% after logging CBD use.

“We found CBD use to have modest benefits on several sleep metrics, as well as resting heart rate & HRV.”

As a result, WHOOP found their members are most commonly using CBD during the weekdays to aid performance, recovery, sleep, etc. Their research also showed CBD use to have a small positive effect on members’ resting heart rate and heart rate variability. The progress may seem incremental, but the recovery report for the next day is an average of 0.22% higher, and that is just a first step to creating a routine that is effective. All in all, we can agree CBD does compliment sleep! If you are starting your CBD journey, or looking for the right products for your routine, check out Valor Craft Performance products.
